It's the Freakin' Weekend Baby...

By BetterInPink · May 29, 2009 · 0 Comments · 9 Views

And that means SALES!!!! Actually, I don't think the weekend means sales generally, but this weekend you're in lucky. If you're a city girl (or a fellow New Jerseyian who wishes desperately to be a city girl but is low on funds) these sales are for YOU:

Aloha Rag in Soho is having a one day sale TOMORROW MAY 30th. Go there if 40-70% off designers like 3.1 Phillip Lim appeals to you.

The Vera Wang sample sale ENDS tomorrow May 30th. Check it out at 225 W. 39th St, near 7th Ave, 9th Floor for up to 80% off spring designs.

Suite Orchard's sample sale ENDS tomorrow May 30th too. Go if you're interested in 50-80% off Rag and Bone or Alexander Wang.

Nolita & Rare sample sale ENDS tomorrow May 30th. Items priced uner $20 at 39 W. 19th St., near 6th Ave (Suite 610).

Also, starting this weekend are sales at Christian Louboutin and Jimmy Choo, while they've still got enough sales merchandise to please the masses (translation = it won't last long so hurry up). 30-40% off. If you're a Louboutin lady, head up to 965 Madison Ave, near 75th St. If Choo is more your thing, trek to 716 Madison Ave, at 63rd St.

Enjoy ladies & gents :o)

Britney Fix

By BetterInPink · May 29, 2009 · 0 Comments · 9 Views

So Britney was over in Santa Barbara filming her "Radar" video (these pics are courtesy of Breatheheavy.com and popsugar.com):

And, while I am biased because I love Britney, I really do love this dress. However, after scouring the internet for a reliable source on WHO MAKES THIS DRESS, I have been left empty-handed and disappointed in my google skills. So who wants to fill me in.

However, since I knew that even when I found this dress' info, I'd be too poor to afford it, I looked up some affordable knock-offs for myself and for the MASSES of people who read my blog. Check it:

Kensie Sleeveless Petal-Collar Ruffled Silk Dress at Macy's for $168. I really like this dress, and ruffles are in for Spring/Summer 09, so why not?

Not exactly the same, but a cheap option when you want to capture that flirty black/white vibe. Chiffon Dot Bubble Dress for $24.80 at Forever 21.

Now I'm straying farther and farther away from what I was originally trying to do, but I saw this during browsing and I really love it haha. Aqua Short Lace Strapless Dress With Pink Sash for $218.00 at Bloomingdales.

Back to what I was trying to do originally. This one doesn't have the white, but the cut and feel are spot-on. I like it for a cocktail party. ABS by Allen Schwartz Short Party Dress for $217.50 at Bloomingdales.

For the smaller, younger girls, I thought this was cute. Teeze Me Tiered Strapless Dress for $72.00 at Nordstrom.

My least fave of all the options, but this one was heavily discounted. BCBGMAXAZRIA Beaded Empire Cocktail Dress, originally $298, now $118.90 at Nordstrom.

Ok that's it from me, because I am getting ridiculously distracted as I browse Britney-esque dresses, and have started wandering and looking at dresses that really have nothing to do with what I am actually supposed to be looking for. Hope this post was useful. And I will CONTINUE to scour the internet until I find the ACTUAL Britney Dress :o)

Got Color?

By BetterInPink · May 29, 2009 · 0 Comments · 1 Views

Free People's summer theme seems to be color, and I think they're doing it well. Check out some of the new stuff on their webpage:

I love this color and cut ($78.00 for "High Neck Beach Cover Up")

If it comes in pink, I love it haha. $128 for Stitch's Cut-Off Cord Short.

I've made it clear in previous posts that I love rompers, and this color is great. $78.00 for Tie Dye Smocked Romper.

Got an invite for this, thought it sounded fun:

That coupon code at the bottom (in case you can't read it) is NY125 (for purchases over $50, type it in at checkout).

Dealz & Stealz

I might make this a daily thing. And now that I have ONE follower, maybe I'll be helping somebody hahah (I crack myself up):

Betsey Johnson at SmartBargains. Maybe not some people's thing, but I think it is kind of cute. Originally $360, now $179.

Another Betsey at SmartBargain. I know Betsey can be a little polarizing (you either love her or hate her), but I happen to love her. Originally $295, now $149.99

BCBG at Macy's. Dressy, but isn't it prom season? Originally $385, now $269.50

5 Dollahhhhh

I can't believe I didn't even know about this until now!!!!

Do you think these are cute:

(This one is my personal fave)

Then run, run, run over to Urban Outiftter's $5 sale because all these items are LESS than $5. And as a personal note, I LOVE Urban Outfitters so this is all very exciting to me. The only caveat: a lot of these are only available in certain sizes, so I suggest your hurry.

An Aside

By BetterInPink · May 29, 2009 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

Because I still have words for the new Lady Gaga video that I just can't hold in:

1. I really, really like Lady Gaga - I think her music is fun, and while she's kind of out there, I think that's fun too.

2. I think her whole "I'm weird" persona is a little much - stop trying to be crazier than Madonna, we all know that at heart, you're just a typical city girl who wants attention (and we'll gladly give it to you without you wearing the funny lipstick).

3. This video makes no sense.

4. Why does she love the Swedish language so much?

5. The message that she IS trying to send - omg when you're famous, the paparazzi hounds you, and omg, themes of "Sunset Boulevard" - is stupid. For one, she's been hardcore famous for like 10 minutes (I know she's been around a lot longer than that, but you get the picture), so you can't have a video about your rise and fall and rising again when people are still getting used to you. And the whole "Sunset Boulevard" thing? I thought she was anti-cliche?

6. I still like her, but this video is stupid. Perez needs 2 wake-up

Shop...for a Cause

H & M is fighting AIDs, and they're doing it with cute clothes!!

Do your part by buying these cute items:

The items are designs that famous people like:

Cyndi Lauper

Robyn

and Katy Perry collaborated with designers on, so obviously if celebs are involved, it's cool (tongue-in-cheek, please). But seriously, check it out and fight the good fight.

Hot Child in the City

By BetterInPink · May 28, 2009 · 0 Comments · 2 Views

Since nobody reads this blog yet, this is probably falling on deaf ears, but whatever. On Monday, June 1, there is a cool lecture being given in the city (and by "the city", I mean THE city, New York) about how to successfully borrow styles from past generations. It's only an hour, but should be fun for those of you who want to be a little different.

Check out a description of the event here.

Tickets are $16, and it's taking place at 92Y in Tribeca from noon to 1PM. Enjoy all you people who don't read my blog yet (but will) :o)

Daily Grind...

By BetterInPink · May 28, 2009 · 0 Comments · 3 Views

Sorry for no posts today, but I was in school all day (first day of summer classes, ughhh). So here's some of the cool links and articles that were sent my way today:

Love the nautical look thing, very cute for summer....

Cute website for fun things in your area...

Inspiring words at chicinspector for those of you who got into fashion design only to be greeted by this shittttayyy economy (right there with you)...

Not really fashion (but hey it's Lady Gaga, and that's almost as close), but what do you think about this new video? personally, not a fan, I think it's all been said before (but not in such a fashion), but what do I know?

I can't stand Scarjo (if you think she can act, well, maybe you need to rent "The Godfather" and see what real acting is), but anyway, I think I want this to be my new haircut.
